Randstad have been operating in Australia since 1988 and is a global leader in HR Services, one of the world’s fastest-growing industries. Randstad focuses on combining knowledge with modern technology to create changes that move people forward.
The challenge
The provision of outplacement services is an integral part of Randstad’s business; as a result, Randstad wanted to develop a dedicated platform that their customers could use as the core of their own internal outplacement programs.
It was envisaged that users could log into a secure cloud-based platform and work through the program, thus providing a layer of support that was often done manually, or not at all.
The solution
DB Results were engaged by Randstad to build a Career Transition Platform.
“There was a large amount of complexity in the development of the Platform” explained Andrew Hehir, CIO – Asia Pacific, Randstad.
“We needed three separate user interfaces. The first was for a customer to administer the platform, the second was for suppliers to add and edit training courses and manage attendance/participation, and the final interface was for the individuals going through the program.”
Requirements included providing the ability for coaches to schedule meetings with individuals, manage training courses, self-registration for individuals, download templates (such as CVs), news updates and participant feedback and provide a repository to store articles and guides in areas that may help individuals in transitioning to a new role, or to a new career.
“The team combined rapid iteration, design thinking, and agile methodologies to successfully meet the business requirements and identified user needs,” explained Rallas Buttriss, Delivery Executive at DB Results.
“A demonstration prototype was delivered in four days, giving Randstad confidence in the DB Results team’s ability to deliver on the vision for the platform.”
As a result of this proof of concept, DB Results moved to further develop the requirements, and mapped out a program of three sprints, using an agile methodology.
“Using OutSystems technology, the first sprint was delivered in nine days, and went into production on day ten. The MVP was delivered in seven weeks, on time, and to budget.”
The results
The ability to stick to the agreed timeframes throughout the project was due to great communication and teamwork between the DB Results team and Randstad staff.
“DB Results were able to quickly ramp up a highly skilled and capable team,” said Andrew Hehir. “The inclusive, cooperative environment meant that requirements could be discussed, and clarifications and walkthroughs could be conducted quickly.”
DB Results followed their proven agile approach, which meant that all team members clearly understood their roles and the process that was to be followed.
The DB Results team understood the vision and were able to deliver a great customer experience in both product and collaboration.
Moving Forward
Randstad now has a customer with a fully operational career transition platform. Feedback has been extremely positive and fits with their mission to “combine knowledge with digital technology to move people forward.”
“Overall we were really impressed with the skills and capability of the DB Results team. We are now looking at other ways we can incorporate Digital Technology with our service offerings and look forward to working on these together with DB Results.”
