It’s been a pleasure working with you. Your knowledge, professionalism and ability to quickly integrate yourself into our team was impressive ... In short, this piece [Clinical Transition] of the EMR project would not have been successful without you.

THE CHALLENGE
Our client is one of Victoria’s largest public health service, providing healthcare to one quarter of Melbourne’s population at over 40 care locations across Melbourne. In 2016, they approved a business case to implement an organisation-wide Electronic Medical Records (EMR) solution based on Cerner Millennium software, and formed the EMR Program in early 2017. The strategy of the EMR is to be the central information and process hub of all clinical systems to enable a “Connected Care” capability and enabling improved patient care. Prior to the implementation of the Cerner c, our client used an array of satellite clinical systems, yet many of these existing systems were only lightly integrated, resulting in a need for multiple manual and paper-based processes. As a result, the scope for the EMR program and solution was significant and the change impact would be transformational for all staff.
The EMR program deliberately elected to follow a clinically led approach to the design of the clinical workflows involving clinical subject matter experts from all disciplines. The design, building and testing of the EMR system was extensive consuming much effort and focus. As a result, the Program was delayed in commencing its Go-Live preparations and work streams.
In order to accelerate the Go-Live planning and preparations, our client engaged DB Results’ expertise to provide EMR implementation and hypercare support services. The decision was based on DB Results’ prior experience with Cerner EMR implementations at other large public health organisations.
"DB Results have been a key part of our team and its success and have been just plain lovely to work with. On behalf of our whole team: a heartfelt thank you!"

THE RESULTS
With the program streams all delivering to the revised schedule, our client successfully achieved the required independent readiness to Go-Live. DB Results provided them with an effective and fit-for-purpose implementation and hypercare support model that significantly helped de-risk the impact of the transformational change. It was through close engagement and collaboration with various client teams that DB Results orchestrated the design and execution of the Go-Live implementation services.
The outcome from this transformation resulted in the removal of paper records for patient care and led to our client becoming a fully digital healthcare provider.
MOVING FORWARD
Our client now has an uplift in experience, capability and tools to implement large programs of change, which can be re-used. With further clinical modules in scope for 2020, DB Results look forward to the possibility of working with them again in the future.
